TCP/IP, or Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, is a fundamental set of networking protocols and standards that underpin the internet and most computer networks. It provides the rules and conventions for data communication and exchange between devices in a network.

TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is responsible for ensuring reliable and ordered data transmission, breaking data into packets, and handling error correction and retransmission when necessary. IP (Internet Protocol) manages the addressing and routing of data packets, allowing them to be correctly delivered across interconnected networks. Together, TCP/IP forms the backbone of modern internet communication, enabling devices to send and receive data across the global network seamlessly and efficiently.
