BNET goes live with next generation BSS/OSS in Bahrain with Beyond Now

CSP and digital platform solution provider work together to rapidly roll out cloud-native SaaS solution, despite COVID-19 limitations.

Amsterdam, October 28, 2020 – Beyond Now, a rapidly growing digital platform solution provider, today announced that BNET, responsible for providing broadband network services across the Kingdom of Bahrain, has deployed both OSS and BSS systems powered by its cloud-native BSS. Built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), the platform is designed to help the CSP to manage operational processes and procedures for its nationwide fiber broadband network. As part of the agreement, network inventory specialists CROSS Network Intelligence (CNI) is providing network inventory and service assurance solutions to BNET.

Despite the inevitable challenges caused by COVID-19, BNET worked with Beyond Now to roll out both OSS and BSS systems in a matter of months using SaaS and agile delivery for a rapid deployment. These new BSS and OSS platforms give BNET the flexibility to act as an independent entity with its own customer services and operations process management, reinforcing its primary responsibility for the Kingdom’s national broadband network operations but will also accommodate future growth.

BNET was launched in October 2019 as a completely new and independent wholesale broadband provider by Batelco, Bahrain’s largest telecoms operator. Its goal was to provide next generation wholesale fiber broadband connectivity to all licensed telecom operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Bahrain – including Batelco itself.

The BNET network is a key part of Bahrain’s fourth National Telecommunications Plan (NTP4) to grow and diversify Bahrain’s telecoms sector. The plan includes rolling out fiber broadband connectivity to 100 percent of businesses and 95 percent of households across Bahrain. NTP4 aims to provide internet access speeds of at least 100Mbps for up to 95 percent of homes and 1Gbps for all government and business entities.

The Beyond Now platform’s multi-tenancy and ecosystem orchestration capabilities offer BNET the potential to launch new revenue-generating offerings in the future – including reselling hosted BSS capabilities to other service providers in the country.
